The Colab Training Programme

Practical hybrid training that can be delivered online or face-to-face. The Colab Training Programme helps participants understand and use data science in the context of their own role, department or organisation. It is built around practical application, not generic theory, so participants learn by working on real industrial challenges they already understand.

A Data Science and Innovation Project

The Colab model gives participants the chance to work on a live challenge from their own company, department or role. We call this the Sidekick Project, and it helps participants apply what they are learning to something useful, practical and relevant to their organisation.

Before, during, and after support

Colab includes up to 40 hours of support over 6 months to help participants move their Sidekick Project from learning into practice. This support continues beyond the training itself, helping organisations turn their data into better decisions, practical projects and new opportunities.

Access to High-Calibre Data Science Talent

Colab gives participants direct access to experienced data science talent during the programme. For organisations that want further support, data science talent can also be embedded into the company for one to six months for an additional fee.

The Kickstarter helps you turn that idea into a practical data science project, with a clear view of the data, skills, tools and support needed to make it real.

Programme

During this practical Colab, participants master applied data skills by tackling a real, live operational bottleneck in their own business.

Sidekick Project

During the programme, your Sidekick project transforms into a live data solution that you can test, understand, ready for deployment.

Projects move towards deployment or further development. If the work becomes more complext we can embed data science talent shor term for upto 6 months.

The programmes are delivered in a flexible hybrid format, with participants able to join online or take part face-to-face, depending on the cohort and delivery location.

Participants learn how to use data by applying it to a real challenge from their own department, role or business.

This is not a course about turning people into data scientists. It is about helping people who already understand their work use data science tools and methods to solve practical industrial problems.

Across the programme, participants explore the different types of data found in industrial environments and learn how that data can be accessed, combined, cleaned, analysed and visualised. They build confidence in understanding what their data is showing them, what questions to ask of it, and how it can support better decisions.

The focus is always on practical application. Participants use their own domain knowledge to investigate a live operational challenge, identify opportunities for improvement, and understand what their data could help them do next.

By the end of the programme, participants will have a stronger understanding of how data is structured, prepared, managed and used in an industrial setting. They will also be better equipped to assess data practices, spot practical opportunities, and understand the technical, organisational and operational implications of using data well.
